Walking, Hiking, and Biking
For those out on the casual stroll or ride to the serious runners and cyclists, the Trinity Strand Trail will offer an easily accessible 9+ mile stretch of trail that will connect to both the Katy trail and the Trinity River. It will allow those who want to enjoy nature and the outdoors the opportunity to do so without leaving the city.

Bird Watching
The Trinity River Audubon Center, scheduled to open in 2008, will serve as the gateway to explore the amazing natural resources of the Great Trinity River Forest. This grand wetland sits in the largest urban hardwood forest in the United States. Wally, a Great Blue Heron, is a resident and can frequently be seen at his favorite fishing hole. There are a host of other recreational opportunities available as the plans for the Trinity River Corridor Project become reality. Access to the Great Trinity Forest by way of Dallas' network of trails [see map] will not only provide access to to the Audubon Center, but also additional hiking and biking and even horseback riding at the future Texas Horse Park.
