commuters
A key part of the vision for the Old Trinity River corridor is a hike and bike trail—Trinity Strand Trail—which will be used for recreation, but more importantly, it will connect residential areas with commercial areas. Imagine a life without commuter traffic! The trail is envisioned to run along the old channel of the Trinity River (also known as the meanders), starting at the southern end of the Katy Trail, in Stemmons Park across from the Infomart, connecting the Katy Trail to the regional Trinity Trails system at the historic 1914 Baker Pump Station at the levee. The trail will also access the Hospital District.
Once the trail is completed, Dallas residents and visitors will be able to walk or bike between their homes, hotels, the DART/TRE stations, or work places in downtown Dallas, Oak Cliff, Uptown, Design District, or Trinity Industrial District.
