The Trinity Strand Trail will run along the course of the original Trinity River, also known as Old Meanders. Over the years, the path of the river was changed to prevent flooding, leaving Old Meanders isolated and almost unknown to most residents. Plans for the Trinity River include:

• New Baker Pump Station improvements allowing for water impoundment, supporting larger aquatic systems along Old Meanders.

• Development of small temporary ponds to provide pollution filtration for storm water runoff, and to soften the channel’s edges, improving wildlife habitat and the aesthetic beauty of the area.

• Hands-on educational programs for local schools and organizations to educate Dallas citizens on the importance of ecological restoration and keeping our water clean.
