The Audubon Society monitors Trinity River area bird populations and species.

The Trinity River Audubon Center, opened in October 2008, will serve as the gateway to explore the amazing natural resources of the Great Trinity River Forest. This grand wetland sits in the largest urban hardwood forest in the United States. Wally, a Great Blue Heron, is a resident and can frequently be seen at his favorite fishing hole.
