commuters

A key part of the vision for the Old Trinity River corridor is a hike and bike trail—Trinity Strand Trail—which will be used for recreation. More importantly, it will connect residential areas with commercial areas. Imagine a life without commuter traffic!

The trail will run along the old channel of the Trinity River (also known as Old Meanders), starting at the southern end of the Katy Trail. It will continue through Stemmons Park, across from the Infomart, and will connect the Katy Trail to the regional Trinity Trails system at the historic 1914 Baker Pump. The trail will also access the Southwestern Hospital District and Market Center.

Once the trail is completed, Dallas residents and visitors will be able to walk or bike between their homes, hotels, and the DART/TRE stations. They can commute to work places in downtown Dallas, Oak Cliff, Uptown, Design District and Trinity Industrial District.
