Using the North Texas Master Naturalists’ Texas SmartScape® program—and working with area naturalists, environmental professionals, and city experts—the “Strand’s” Trail Ecological Restoration Committee developed an environmental restoration plan to bring Old Meanders back to life, and back to the City of Dallas its residents and visitors.

Active restoration of damaged ecosystems in combination with preservation and management of key natural areas is needed to maintain native biological diversity.
