friends of the trail
In 2002, a group of dedicated individuals formed the Friends of the Trinity Strand Trail, a non-profit organization to spearhead the planning, construction and enhancement of a 7.8 mile non-motorized hike and bike trail along the original Trinity River watercourse, also known as Old Meanders, a beautiful but neglected resource near the Design District. Trinity Strand Trail plays a major role within the City's trail system by providing interconnectivity to other trails, ant the trail will tie commercial, residential, and recreational areas together with easy access to public transportation.
Since 2002, we have raised over 12 million dollars in public and private funds for the trail.
Additional funding is required to complete construction of the trail and trail connections in the next few years. There are many opportunities to get involved and support the effort through membership*, donations, sponsorships and volunteering.
